Hey, what’s up? It’s your girl Lisa! Welcome to my website!
I am so thankful for all the love and support I keep receiving from all my fans. If you’re a first time visitor let me tell you about me. I am so grateful to be a role model to so many people and I take great pride and responsibility knowing that so many young boys and girls look up to me. I always encourage kids to believe they can do and be anything they set their minds to. It will take a lot of hard work and dedication but the sky is the limit. If you can dream it, you can achieve it. Remember, as the great Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “ You don’t have to see the whole stair case, just take the first step.”
With that said, I have been dreaming ever since I was 7 years old of becoming a weather reporter and model. By the time I was 12 I pick up my first basketball and I have yet to put it down. I began high school at 14 and decided I wanted to be the best female basketball player in the world. I then wrote down my short-term goals of goals I wanted to reach within one year and my long-term goals were goals I wanted to reach within five years: broadcaster, model and the best basketball player in the world. I stayed focused and worked hard to achieve all those goals. And in the game of life, you must keep working hard to reach all your dreams because yesterday is gone. I have been so blessed to recognize the gifts that God has given me and been diligent enough to develop them to be the very best Lisa Leslie I can be!
My History
While at Morningside High School in Inglewood, CA, she led the team to two state championships. In college at the University of Southern California, she was the all time Pac-10 leader in points, rebounds, and blocked shots. After college, Leslie launched her modeling career, signing with the prestigious Wilhelmina Agency in 1996.
She was a member of the gold-winning U.S. Olympic teams in 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008. In 2001, Leslie was the first WNBA player to win the regular season MVP, the All-Star Game MVP and the playoff MVP in the same season. That year, she also led the Los Angeles Sparks to their first WNBA victory. In 2002, she was the WNBA all-time leading scorer and was named MVP of the WNBA Championship and All-Star Game. Leslie is the first woman to slam-dunk in a professional game and the first team sport athlete to win four consecutive Olympic Gold Medals.
In 2002, Lisa Leslie helped the Sparks win their second straight world championship, winning the WNBA MVP Award that year and again in 2006. She became a commentator for ESPN in 2004, covering the NCAA Women’s Tournament.
Lisa Leslie sat out the 2007 WNBA season as she and her husband, Michael Lockwood welcomed baby Lauren into the world. She joined the U.S. team that spring and won her fourth Olympic Gold Medal as she retired from the Olympics.
In 2009, Lisa Leslie has announced her retirement from the WNBA as she plays her last season in front of her family, friends and fans!
